The travelling project, previewing Biennale Danza 2025, combines dance, theatre and large-scale puppetry, tracing a symbolic migration of animals displaced by climate change.

Crafted from recycled cardboard and wood by a 35-person team, including South Africa’s Ukwanda Puppetry Collective, the puppet herds will cover 20,000 kilometres from Kinshasa to Norway.

In Venice this July, they will meet sixteen dancers from Biennale College Danza for a performance led by choreographer Anthony Matsena, who describes the work as “a cry for help, and a celebration of nature’s rhythm.”
