War is maybe on the way due to the conflict
Following the latest assault of Iran on oil installations in Saudi Arabia which caused a huge conflict, US President Donald Trump tweeted that America was “closed and loaded” to react.
Iran rejected allegations by the US; It was to blame and said that they prepared it for a full-fledged conflict.
So, are the U.S. planning to fight with Iran?
It’s a conflict that neither party likes. In the run-up to the last election, Donald Trump fought to get America out of the Middle East conflict. He intends to decrease the number of US troops in nations such as Afghanistan and Iraq and has resisted further participation in Yemen.
The concern is that, as far as Iran is concerned, either party could stumble into conflict. Accidents or errors could rapidly escalate conflicts and lead to a wider conflict.
Thomas Wright is an expert in foreign policy and a senior scholar at the Brookings Institution. He thinks a full-scale war remains unlikely.
“Iran avoids attacking Americans, and President Trump seems determined to prevent dragging himself into a global war between Iran and Saudi Arabia. However, there is a strong danger of tit-for-tat restricted attacks that can spiral out of control,” Wright said.
US-Iran relations
Relations between the US and Iran have deteriorated since America walked out of the Iran Nuclear Deal last May.
They established the contract in 2015 between Iran and six world leaders–the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, Russia and Germany.
Iran said that, in exchange for easing sanctions, it would limit its nuclear aspirations.
Donald Trump, however, criticized the contract as “horrible,” “catastrophe, ” and “the worst bargain ever.”
Accusing Iran of being a country of terror, the US walked out of the agreement and launched a “peak stress” penalties campaign.
After being accused by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of attacking Saudi oil installations, Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted, “Having neglected to exert maximum stress, Secretary Pompeo is shifting to max deceit.”
In the latest days, Mr Trump said that “significantly growing penalties” would be imposed on Iran. Tehran accused him of “intentionally attacking” the civilian population of Iran.
Mr. Wright thinks the US should never have withdrawn from the Iran Nuclear Deal.
