Two German men died and a third remains in critical condition at Elche General Hospital following a brutal beating on Monday evening in the La Marina district near El Pinet beach, Spanish authorities said Tuesday.

Guardia Civil surrounded the house in an isolated area of La Marina urbanisation, where two Polish men, believed to beresponsible for the attack, remained barricaded overnight. No arrests were made as of Tuesday morning, police said.

A neighbour alerted authorities around 6:00 pm on Monday after witnessing people attempting to load two bodies into a car boot on Camí del Molar path, according to local reports.

Police arrived to find two men dead from severe beating and a third victim critically injured, Guardia Civil sources said. All three victims are German nationals.

Victims suffered fatal injuries inside a large residence, where they were beaten with sticks and blunt objects in an “extremely violent” attack, according to police. Bodies were dragged outside the property before the neighbour spotted them.

Local police from Elche, Guardamar del Segura, Santa Pola and San Fulgencio initially responded to the report of a fight and then requested Guardia Civil backup after determining the incident’s severity.

A Specialist Guardia Civil unit deployed for high-risk operations has maintained the security perimeter around the property, according to reports. Authorities said there was no indication that the suspects were armed, and no hostages were involved.

Guardia Civil ruled out professional hit or contract killing based on the nature of the attack. Investigation remains open to determine motive.

Bodies were transferred to the forensic institute after 9:00 pm on Monday for autopsies scheduled on Tuesday. One source told local media that a woman was also found injured at the scene and taken for medical treatment under police custody.
