In Syntagma Square, youths set fire to trash bins, prompting riot police to respond with tear gas and baton charges. There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests.
The unrest followed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government, which is expected to survive Friday’s vote. Victims’ families have led the protests, insisting politicians, not just rail officials, be held accountable.
