In the heart of Mongolia, it’s day 2 of the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam. Another thrilling day of judo.
Opening speeches from Mongolia Judo Association President His Excellency Mr Battulga KHALTMAA and IJF General Treasurer Mr Naser AL TAMIMI came before.
The crowd were treated to an impressive show of local Mongolian culture as the opening ceremony kicked off the medal matches.
Where in the -63kg, Gankhaich BOLD faced Kirari YAMAGUCHI. After a tough contest that went deep into Golden Score, BOLD managed to secure a hold down and claim her second Grand Slam gold with a roaring crowd cheering her on.

At -73kg, Uranbayar ODGEREL faced Ahmadzod MASUDI. ODGEREL scored a lightning fast yuko and managed to defend his lead to win his first Grand Slam gold medal to the joy of the fans!
Ulaanbaatar Development Corporation CEO Mr Sandagsuren JIGJIDSUREN awarded the medals.
At -70kg, Utana TERADA faced Lu LIU. TERADA threw LIU for a waza-ari score and then transitioned into a hold down – waza-ari-awasete-ippon and a gold medal for the Japanese judoka.
Member of Parliament of Mongolia Mr Tsogtbaatar DAMDIN awarded the medals.
In -81kg, Yuhei OINO faced Gadzhimurad OMAROV. OINO threw for waza-ari, and finished the contest with a hold down – claiming his first Grand Slam gold medal! IJF General Treasurer Mr Naser AL TAMIMI awarded the medals.
