At a cemetery in Quetta, Pakistan, polished marble tombstones engraved with portraits of the deceased are helping families keep the memory of loved ones alive.

The practice has become increasingly popular among the Hazara community. Local artist Sadiq Poya carefully carves the images into marble, sometimes offering his work for free to families who cannot afford it.
Relatives say the engraved portraits bring comfort when visiting the graves, making it feel as if their loved ones are still present.
Some families also say the portraits help elderly relatives easily recognise graves in large cemeteries.
